Being a developer involves more than just understanding how to code. To stay on the cutting edge, a large part of it is keeping up with web development trends in your area. This is a rundown of what to keep an eye on in 2022.

The web has become more and more ingrained in our daily lives with each passing year. We use it for everything, from banking to reading the news to having food delivered to our house in minutes for no apparent reason. The demand for web development skills is as great as ever, and the scope of what programmers can do is vast, thanks to the pandemic forcing progressively more of our lives online.

If you’re new to the world of web development and want to learn more about what a web developer works on a daily basis, this could be a nice method to learn about what’s trending right now. As the year draws to a close, I can’t help but wonder what awaits us in the coming year. Will the web pervade even more aspects of our lives, filling them with ever more confusing terms that we must pretend to understand?

Here’s my rundown of the top web development trends I believe will reshape the tech landscape in the coming years.

Artificial Intelligence and Chatbots

The ability to build virtual assistants that communicate and assist site users is one of the main reasons why an increasing number of developers are choosing to use AI technology. It also enables you to perform and collect analytical data that you can use to improve your website’s development and marketing across all search engines.

“Chatbots interact with website visitors and respond to their questions. The site ranking will improve if the client involvement rate is high” says Daniel Foley Specialist at Scooter guide. Chatbots can communicate with customers on a virtual human level, making them ideal for assisting site visitors with a variety of issues.

Around 70% of websites are predicted to implement this technology by 2022, allowing consumers to get the information they need in only a few words. AI is also heavily reliant on Machine Learning, with a 33.2 percent annual growth rate projected between 2020 and 2027.

Implementing PWA and AMP Apps

Developers are familiar with PWAs (Progressive Web Applications) and AMP (Accelerated Mobile Page) apps. “PWAs (Progressive Web Apps) are web applications that are capable, dependable, and easy to install. They are elevated to the level of a platform-specific application by these three pillars. PWAs enable website content to adjust to the size of the phone, resulting in a far better UI/UX layout” says Harry Hughes, CEO, and Co-founder at Dangler.co.uk.

The added benefit is that page loading speed is maintained at the same level as on a fixed PC. This is especially important for user retention because there is a strong tendency to view websites from mobile devices. AMP is more compatible than PWAs if the website has animations and video content. You may still make all of your content available to site visitors on mobile devices while avoiding overload by employing an AMP.

Dark Mode

This dark mode, also called “Night Mode,” “Dark View,” or “Shadow Mode” is a design phrase for a low-light user interface that employs a dark color as the main background color, reversing the typical light-on-dark design employed by designers for decades. Dustin Porreca, SEO manager at Elevate Demand explains: “Users’ screen time is increasing, which has affected the adoption of Dark Mode as a strategy to reduce eye fatigue and allow users to connect with a site for extended periods of time. This strategy has been embraced by large technology businesses such as Facebook and Google, which has influenced others.”

Voice Search Optimization

Voice Search Optimization has been ingrained in our daily lives thanks to Google Assistant, Apple’s Siri, and Amazon’s Alexa, as we saw last year. Among the most recent web development developments, voice recognition technology has made remarkable gains.

The global market for smart speakers is expected to rise by 21% to 163 million devices by 2022, according to estimates. This change has been made possible by AI assistants like Siri and Alexa that recognize speech. According to Adobe Analytics, people actually prefer voice search to typing. A stunning 47 % use voice search. With the multitude of activities that surround our life, these figures are realistic.

Jason Ball, Director at Considered Content. Says:  “ It’s safe to say that speech recognition is becoming more popular, and that it should be used to improve accessibility and user experience. It will enhance the online experience for visually and hearing-impaired people in particular.” To demonstrate its significance, digital companies such as Amazon, Apple, and Google have released smart speakers to the market in response to this growing trend.

Mobile-First Development Approach

According to GSMA real-time intelligence statistics, there are now over 10.53 billion mobile connections worldwide, surpassing UN digital expert projections of 7.91 billion. For businesses to keep customers, the user experience has proven to be the most important factor. If a website is mobile-friendly and optimized, 74% of customers will return. “Mobile phones have completely changed the way people live and connect with one another. People rely on technology to carry out their daily tasks, which is why it’s important to consider the flexibility of web technology for both desktop and mobile” says Daniel Carter, Marketing Specialist at PharmacyOnline.co.uk.

Content Personalization With Machine Learning

Content personalization with machine learning also named predictive content personalization is an evolved AI-driven practice to dynamically show the most relevant content to every user.  In web development, machine learning (ML) is utilized to give a better user experience. ML is used by software developers to evaluate incoming data, spot patterns, and personalize information. This technology is used by several top companies to improve user experience. Airbnb and Netflix, for example, employ machine learning to personalize search results for their users.

You can use machine learning to tailor information without having to target a particular user group. You can target each user’s interests by identifying them individually. According to Shad Elia, CEO of  New England Home Buyers “The algorithms deliver content that is personalized to the user’s preferences. Content personalization with machine learning is a fantastic trend that allows you to tailor your content based on visitor behavior.”
